About Hairspray: It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do!

Young People's Concert Series is presented in partnership with Upper Darby High School and the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

Mann Manners 2019

A performing arts event is the result of hard work by a staff of diligent workers. Artists have trained and rehearsed their programs to present their finest performances. Funding, marketing, and promotional materials have been developed and the production staff has prepared the venue, lights, and sound for your utmost enjoyment. Each audience member should be prepared to follow the rules and regulations of the Mann Center for the Performing Arts.

Observing the following list of theater manners will ensure a great performance experience. Because of the vital role the audience plays in live performances, please discuss these rules with your young people before bringing them to a performance. Disregarding any of these rules could result in being immediately escorted from the theater by our Mann Monitors.

  • Be on time. Late arrivals will be escorted into the theater at the discretion of the ushers.
  • Use the restrooms before the performance begins.
  • Bag lunches/snacks will be permitted during this performance. The performance duration is 120 minutes, not including announcements. Please clean up all trash from lunches and dispose in trash bins.
  • Backpacks are not permitted in the theater.
  • Excessive talking will result in ejection from the performance.
  • Respect the performers, as they work hard to prepare for the show. Give your full attention and energy to these talented artists.
  • Stay seated unless otherwise instructed.
  • Unless it is an emergency, do not leave the theater until the performance has ended. This is extremely disrespectful to the performers and other audience members.
  • Turn off cell phones, pagers, alarms, and other devices.
  • Photography and recording devices are not permitted.
  • Respect yourselves and our theater; pick up all of your belongings and trash around your seat before you leave.
